Orlando, FL- Plush Recording Studios is pioneering a new community engagement series offering Orlando-based artists the opportunity to learn and potentially collaborate with the urban music industry’s top artists. The inaugural event, featuring Joell Ortiz of Slaughterhouse, will take place at 3pm on October 16th at Plush Studios, prior to Ortiz’s concert at Backbooth. Ortiz will discuss his career, network with local hip-hop enthusiasts and take part in a live freestyle cypher with a few lucky local artists. This October 16th event is part of the new Plush Presents: the Session series where Plush Studios offers local artists the opportunity to learn and potentially collaborate with some of the industry’s most successful acts.
The studio welcomes any participants from budding new artists to experienced MCs to participate. In order to compete, visit Joell Ortiz’s SoundCloud page (soundcloud.com/penaltyent/05-brothers-keeper-1) and download the instrumental for “Brother’s Keeper.” After downloading, participants can record themselves rapping their original 16-bars over the instrumental. Both video and audio recordings are acceptable, but they must be viewable to the public online. To be eligible, tweet a link to the submission to @PlushStudios #JoinTheCypher. Submissions will be accepted until 11:59 P.M. EST on October 13th.
The studio, located in Orlando, has worked with boosting the city’s visibility in the global music scene in the past by working with educational institutions such as Full Sail University and Rollins College as well as hosting a Warner Music Group songwriting camp in August. Studio Manager Ethan Curtis says, “In order for any business like our own to continue to thrive in Orlando, we must focus on the big picture. The health of our clients’ careers and our own is one in the same. If the Orlando music scene is thriving, business will be too. We at Plush are dedicated to rebuilding Orlando into the music mecca it once was. We see local talent walk through our doors every day, and we want the world to see what we do.”
